  Abstinence is not a deviance. I would agree with you that the majority of people do not choose this method.

  The fact of the matter is the majority of marriages in the history of marriage where entered into where at least one partner was a virgin.

  It is a modern phenomenon where women are free to be sexually active. Thank the "pill" for the liberation of woman.

  Abstainance is a good message. But it's unrealistic. The argument is that they should edjucate their children at home about this type of thing. But the majority of parents (even these tough talking types) are too frightened to talk to their kids about sex. Many end up not talking to the children at all and leave the issue to the children to figure out for themselves.

  Do you have statistics on how many people wait until they are at least 18? Because that's a worthwhile goal, and I don't think one has to be a Christian conservative to agree that teen abstinence is a good thing for society and there is nothing unhealthy about it.

  There is absolutely no reason to encourage teens to have sex before they are old enough and able to handle the consequences themselves. We have enough grandparents rearing their grandchildren as it is.

  There are also these things called "parents" and some of us think we are equipped to teach our children what we think they need to know. Most of us have figured out how we became parents.
