Considering that roughly 90% of the Christian population insists the exact opposite, I would say no, I don’t get sick of Christians saying that. And while we’re on the topic, I don’t find myself physically ill over anything that anyone says.

I’m a Christian, and I have never in my life heard anyone say that. So I guess I am not sick of it. I suspect I would get sick of it if I heard it a lot, though. I agree with you. Christianity is a religion. There you go.

It is not a religion. Religion to me is a denomination or church. Relationship is like having Jesus as a friend. You don’t have to belong to a church to know Jesus.

it is both a relationship with god and a religion. i am a christian so yes i do now it is a relationship more than a religion because a relationship is a stronger bond than a religion. just please don’t come across as a christian hatter unless you are then you like need JESUS.

I am not sure why people get so hung up on beliefs about beliefs.
I have a pretty good relationship with the truth. But I still struggle.
I don’t believe in God and the people who fight about how they believe in God are kind of scary at times.

it is not religion cause it is not Doctrine, it is relationship when you seek God not mans ideas of how to worship and how to love God. I follow Jesus, I will NEVER trust man, not my Pastor not my congregation members I trust God and Him only, I learn from my pastor , I seek Godly counsel from my congregation members, but I do what the Bible tells me I should do.

I don’t follow a local church and I do follow Jesus. My faith is based on my getting to know Jesus, not what a church or denomination tells me.
Therefore, I have a relationship with Christ Jesus and do not belong to any religion.

Don’t you know the difference between a faith and a religion? The religion is the practice, the ritual, the ecclesiastical structure, and the body of doctrine. In Christianity, there is all of that, but the essential part of it is an actual spiritual relationship with God. If you don’t have that, even though you are fully involved with all parts of the religion, you are not a Christian. So you are both right and both wrong. I read non-Christians’ comments, and they only see religion. Some of the Christians only see their experience of faith, and are oblivious to the fact that they do have doctrine, practice, ritual, and structure. If they actively resist having that, they have no idea what it is to be committed to God’s people and think they can do it on their own. <*)))><

If it is salvation, then they are right. Religion kills, Jesus saves.
You don’t have to be religious, go to church, or call yourself a Christian to be saved.

You can’t throw all Christians in a box and say we’re all the same. For SOME of us, it isn’t about religion at all. As a Christian, I’d love to throw religion out the window most days because it gets on my last nerve, and much of it is completely un-Christ-like. Jesus wasn’t into religion either, that’s what the Pharisees (devout religious leaders) hated him.

Keep in mind these are the kinds of people who like to twist and distort the English language to suit whatever their agenda is.
According to them:
Evolution is a religion, but Christianity isn’t.
Homosexuality is a choice, but God "calls you" to be a Christian.
Alchemy, Astrology, and ancient scripture is science, but 150 years of experimentation, accurate biological prediction, and peer-review is not science.
Make any sense to you? … yeah, me neither.

I especially love those "Bible Quoting Christians" who then quotes verses that says "Christianity is not a religion" or whatever…
They amuse me very much. The fact that they know exactly where and when these verses are said. Great Job…

It is a religion, but a difference in Christianity is the fact that the founder of it, Jesus, is considered not only to be alive, but still an active force in a believer’s life, as well as a model of conduct. That’s why evangelicals tend to stress things like "a personal relationship" as opposed to merely following a set code of religious ethics and dogma.
For them, christianity is really a dialogue with the living Jesus in a way other religions dont really compare to. You may read about buddha, or admire his conduct and teachings, but to claim you intimately know the living buddha and dialogue with him in your prayer life would probably have most buddhists looking funny at you.

Religion is a bunch of man-made rules and legalism. Like Pentecostals saying you can’t cut your hair or wear jewelry or Church of Christ saying you can’t play instruments while worshipping. Everyone gets caught up in all these unbiblical rules and they forget who Christ really is. You should have a personal realtionship with him and be able to talk to him as if he were a close friend. Follow Christ and not man. Religion kills.

One rule that one needs to follow when properly interpreting the Bible is to consider the Law of First Mention. This basically is when a idea, concept, principle, rule, law, incident, story, analogy is first introduced we find or see what the original intent or purpose of that idea, concept, principle, rule, law, incident, story, analogy is. For example, the Garden of Eden in Genesis is the First Mention of the God/Man Relationship. Adam walked with God in the "cool of the day", they spent significant time with each other with Adam each day becoming more knowledgable about God. Because of sin, that relationship was broken and God has spent man’s history reconciling that relationship.

Religion is man made rules to please a god and gain his favor.
I talk to Jesus, I love Him. I listen to Him speak into my thoughts. He helps me and heals me and laughs with me over some of the sillly stuff that goes on around life. This is what I’ve been doing for 37 years. I do good because I have changed inside and like that better – not to get points with Jesus. This is a relationship to me. So, I am so busy loving God that I don’t worry about religion or people like you who get in a snit over things like religion versus relationship.
Don’t you have anything better to do than fuss???

The Xtians nowadays are not very smart. If only they could get it right … the relationship is with God!!! Or JC whatever. But they go to mass or church or services … which is a religion. The religion is normally the route to their God!
That must be why they have to recite those verses over and over again so that they don’t have to learn what the religion is all about.
I have a close relationship with God and the Universe but I am the God of my World and I don’t need religion to tell me anything about anything. I go with my gut feeeling and God and I always have fun since we have a God to God relationship. He’s so cool … He actually doesn’t mind my arrogance … but hits me with a lightning bolt sometimes when I’m not watching Him but I hear Him giggling so I know where it came from.
Fortunately I haven’t heard any Xtians say that one or I would add that to the LIST of things that I find un-cool about them. Too bad we can’t get the red-neck dude to do a skit about "You can tell someone is a Christian if …."
I would do one on here but the Xtians have such a ROTTEN sense of humor I don’t dare. They are already bent about my latest mention of the U-Tube video about the gay scientists isolating the Christian gene. They all take it for real and don’t even realize that it’s a joke. Or maybe it’s not a joke and I’m just mean. Hmmmmm …. must go analyze something ….
