When I admit that I was once a christian, though now an atheist, the most common responses are: my belief was weak, i was focused on people rather than god, i let satan in…
I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, my passion was there, I was NOT focused on others… I genuinely believed god was real, and that he sent his son to save me. WHY do you find it necessary to assume I am lying? Perhaps it’s your way of avoiding the fear of the possibility that god really doesn’t exist?
LOOK! They’re doing it now…
go figure…

WHY do you even give a shit about what they think?
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Looks like you hit the nail into the cross…err nail on the head.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
You deny their religion, and the only explanation that falls within the bounds of their religion is to blame your faith.
Don’t ever apply logic to religion, you’ll drive yourself beyond insane

If you really did believe in god and jesus then you shouldn’t be asking this question.
You should already know how the majority of christians think because frankly most of them don’t have a mind of their own.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
You turned your back on the Almighty. That was your choice not Gods. You simply refused to respond to His grace.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
No, and good luck with that!
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
I know without a doubt God exists.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Apparently you never experienced God or you wouldn’t be calling yourself an athiest. Therefore, you must not have actually had much of a relationship. I would guess that there was a lot of unrentant sin between you and God and that is why you were unable to truly get to know Him.
Just my interpretation based on what you just posted.

Ahhhh… Fuck Religions, what good does it do to the world? Who give a shit about what other people think, what is important is what you think.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Hey hey little camper, dont get all upset. There are some religious nut jobs in here. Don’t let them get the best of you. Thats what they want.
Ignore them. Only you and God (if he exists) knows the truth about you.
Most importantly you don’t have to defend your beliefs to anyone. If they don’t like it screw em.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
You said in your post that you started to look at the other people, in order to do that have to take your focus off of God.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
i would rather assume you lacked a personal relationship with God or you lost the focus in the relationship
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
We assume nothing. You TOLD us that your relationship broke. And a strong rope does not easily break.
btw, you didn’t mention anything about an actual relationship. Wishing isn’t enough. Brainwashing yourself isn’t enough. You need to actually experience God acting in your life. And that only happens when you do your part. Read 1John. How much of that can you honestly say you qualified for?

b/c ur probabaly going to hell unless you get back on the christian way of thought
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
If a relationship with God was all about passion the whole world would be saved.

I’m not really sure what your question is here.
But look, I’m 13 years old and I have been through a lot. Many tragedies in my life, as you could say I guess. I have not yet found a reason to be mad at God. I probably never will.
If anyone questions your christianity, you know what I say? Heck with em!!! Since I do not attend a church every Sunday, many of my "Holier than thou" friends try to get me to go to church because they think I’m a little heathen.
Ever since the day my dad died of brain cancer, I read the Bible every night. I found a connection with God that I never had before. Life seemed to be getting better…But there were still people who thought I was failing in faith. I never really paid attention to them, simply because I knew that my faith was not failing, and it never will.
So what I SAY, just remember…Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

As a Christian I have no right to assume anything about you.
No matter if you are a Christian or an Atheist I have no right to assume anything and I don’t assume anything.

me a Christian that believes in freewill, living and letting others live, while at it I spread love.

There is a difference between "religion" and "faith." People might be able to affect your religious beliefs, but they can never affect your faith…that’s solely between you and the Lord. If you belong to a religion only, then it is probable it will not sustain you. But if you truly have the Lord in your heart and have faith in Him alone, you will not be lost. Maybe that’s why people question the strength of your relationship with Christ. It really doesn’t matter what people think, though, just what He thinks.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
It IS reasonable to think there could be no GOD. But as they say, reason can not disprove either.
So it really makes it a choice.
I do not fear HELL, damnation, or all the "other stuff".
I just don’t want there to be a universe without God and Jesus running the show. I too have faith in people, but they tend to do better when they truly humble themself to the almighty.
I have seen the fakes too, and yes, it is discouraging, but in the end, they are just people.
For me, the teaching alone are worthy of worship.
Even if the person doing the preaching is not worthy of delivering the sermin.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Because, they are too ignorant!
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Okay. If your "passion" was really there….then what was the turning point that made you go back??
Paul in the bible says….
1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Before you converted to atheism could you say you really loved him??
I don’t think you even KNEW HIM because contrary to what you might think….GOD IS A *LIVING* GOD.
And perhaps if you had known that you wouldn’t find it SO EASY to claim he doesn’t exist.
I encourage you to come back to the faith and try it again. You missed something before you left the faith……….
AND GOD WANTS TO GIVE IT BACK TO YOU.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
I don’t think you are lying. There are a lot of religions that just do not practice what they preach. So many like yourself see the hypocrisy and it turns them off.
There is a God and there is a right way and many wrong ways to serve him.
If you look for the right way and do not let yourself be fooled by all the misrepresentations here you will find that there is a real God that deserves our worship.
There is one that answers why we suffer and why people die and what the hope for the future is. The basis being founded on REAL truths. Things where science and archeology and history all meet to form real answers.
I know it’s not the popular thing to do but i encourage you to talk with Jehovah’s Witnesses. They know more than people would like to give them credit for.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Well…
The strength of faith is typically judged by it’s endurance.
It’s like Love.
If after a string of one night stands someone says your Love is WEAK. Can you really argue that your Love is strong because it was intense DURING the one night stands?
If you are an atheist now, than your faith in Gods existence can be defined as weak.
Not insincere, just not strong.
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Why did you convert to athiesm, why would you all of a sudden be so strong in faith in god then so weak to deny him?
July 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
No, you are right no Christian has the right to judge you,you say your passion was there, I have no reason to doubt you, and perhaps you did have a strong belief in God, God knows the facts so he is the one with the right to judge, but as a person who began doubting God’s existence myself in the past, I can tell you it was not only lack of faith but a weak relationship that took me there, so, although, I do not believe you are lying, you may have been misled by the actions of others as I was. I personally now, have no fear of any possibility that God doesn’t exist, one reason is that, a non-existant God could not answer my prayers, but an existing God can and does.
